New York, NY – Charmoli Ciarmoli is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Tiantian Ma. Being our first exhibition, we believe that the imaginative, unique and thoughtful works of Tiantian Ma embody qualities that we wish to remain instrumental through the entirety of our programming. As we incubate the young emerging artist and excavate the overlooked mid to late career artist.

Chinese-born, Manhattan-based, Tiantian Ma embraces her spirituality of Transcendentalism applying the principles to that of the organic paintings she produces. Having a deep gratitude and affection of nature, she emphasizes the harmony between humanity and other natural phenomena; believing that there is one universal spirit living through everything. The soft undulating features Ma depicts in her surreal landscapes or figures with the addition of clear acrylic resin amplifies the phantasmagorical mystery of the invisible forces at play in reality. Mimicking the complexity of nature; Ma layers, builds and alters the oil medium to achieve varying effects of depth in her exploration of energy, rhythms and emotions persistent through the human experience. Her painting style evokes the abstracted flowers of Georgia O’keefe or ethereal figurative works of Albert Bloch. Her practice was further developed while attending Pratt Institute receiving her BFA in 2020. Having solo exhibitions with Latitude gallery in 2020 and Gallery 40 in 2021. We are ecstatic to share Tiantian Ma’s work with you, and welcome you to join us at our grand opening with the opening reception on Sunday, March 12th from 6-9. Exhibition closure April 23rd.
