
Job Title: Assistant to Gallery Owner

Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant to Gallery Owner. The successful candidate will work closely with the Gallery Owner to support the day-to-day operations of the gallery. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in the art world and an opportunity to learn about various aspects of the gallery business.
Responsibilities
- Assist with exhibition planning and coordination. This may include helping to organize exhibitions, preparing exhibition materials, and managing the gallery’s calendar of events.
- Provide administrative support. This may include maintaining the gallery’s physical space and equipment, responding to emails, maintaining files, and updating databases.
- Assist with social media management and content creation
- Greet and interact with gallery visitors, providing information about the artwork and artists.
- Support sales efforts by engaging with potential buyers, providing information about pricing, and facilitating sales transactions.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of digital and physical records of artwork inventory, sales, and customer information.
- Conduct research on artists, artwork, and industry information to support the gallery’s programming and marketing efforts.
- Attend meetings, exhibitions, art fairs, and other events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Arts Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong passion for the arts and a keen interest in contemporary art and the art market.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, design-related skills and familiar with email marketing platform.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Prior experience in a gallery, museum, or arts-related organization is a plus.
- Fluent in both English and Chinese language is an advantage.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings.
This is a 6-month internship with the potential to be extended up to one year, and the possibility of being offered a staff position at the gallery. This internship requires a commitment of 2-3 days per week. The starting day is flexible and will be discussed accordingly. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about the art and gallery business, has a strong work ethic, and is eager to grow with the gallery. We provide compensation for meals and commuting expenses incurred during working hours.
